Designing for Performance: Key Rangehood Considerations from Qasair

Motor Requirements
Qasair recommends two or three motors for the following applications:

  • Wok burners with a megajoule rating of 15 or higher
  • Electric grillers
  • Teppanyaki plates
  • Cooktops 700 mm or wider
  • Frequent or high-intensity frying

Positioning for Indoor Barbecues
Indoor barbecues should be positioned directly beneath the centre of the rangehood, where the fans are mounted. Placement near the outer edges may result in smoke and odour leakage.

Coverage and Bench Depth
With kitchens increasingly designed to include deeper benchtops, correct rangehood positioning is essential. The rangehood must provide adequate coverage over the cooking surface to effectively capture cooking by-products. Insufficient coverage may allow smoke, grease, and odours to disperse into the room and throughout the home.

Remote Switching Options
Remote switching can be used as an alternative to onboard controls. A cable can be wired from the rangehood to a separate set of switches, allowing for more convenient and accessible placement.

Bespoke Rangehood Solutions
Qasair offers bespoke rangehood solutions, with a dedicated team working alongside architects, builders, designers, or clients to create custom pieces. For a truly unique outcome, speak with the Qasair team to explore available options.
