ABOUT the KBDI

Kitchen and bathroom designers are increasingly performing an important role within the new and renovation sectors of the housing industry. Kitchen and bathroom design is a specialist discipline requiring dedicated training and ongoing professional development.

The Kitchen and Bathroom Designers Institute (KBDI) is providing designers with services, direction, a ‘voice’ to other stakeholders and awareness to the consumer.

The KBDI is a national organisation with a number of local Chapters. The national operations office is located in Brisbane
and provides support to the local Chapters and to individual members. Additionally, the ofice undertakes sponsorship
activities and builds other industry partnerships.

The KBDI is the only national organisation exclusively for kitchen and bathroom designers.

The Institute, as a professional body for designers of kitchens and bathrooms, supports members by providing:

• accreditation
• training and professional development
• networking opportunities
• marketing of members & their services to both the general public and the housing industry through the website and  a variety of other marketing tools.

The KBDI complements the activities of HIA Kitchens and Bathrooms (HIA K&B) which, as an industry association,
continues to provide a range of excellent practical beneits to the kitchen and bathroom fabricator and renovator.

KBDI membership is open to anyone involved in the design of kitchens and bathrooms, from students to highly
experienced designers.

KBDI Chapters coordinate regional events and activities, many of which are open to members and non-members alike.

Institute Chapters are located throughout Australia and are administrated by elected Chapter committees. They attend to matters which are best managed at the local level.
Chapters provide a focus for members in the local area by:

• co-ordinating activities such as Chapter functions and training
• providing a point of contact with other designers
• marketing the Institute and its activities.
